ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I’m a native of Cairo, Georgia and the son of a former banker and school teacher. When I was four, the family moved to Dublin, Georgia (my father’s home town). Prior to beginning the first grade we moved to Lyons, Georgia. Here I lived for the next fifty-five years except for my college days at Georgia Southern College where I earned a business degree. I would attend school, grow up, marry, raise two children, work in the nuclear industry, fight cancer, retire, and get another college degree in history while living in Lyons. Since 2016, my wife and I have lived in Statesboro, Georgia.
My love of American history, mostly the War between the Sates era, interested my joining the Sons of Confederate Veterans where I am a past commander of the local camp and the Military Order of the Stars and Bars where I served as chaplain. I’ve given talks to schools and to camps about various events during those turbulent days in our nation’s history. Other interests include painting (mostly bricks) and college football.
I’m a Christian and have been active in my church in roles as deacon, Sunday school teacher, various committees, and even the choir once. Presently, I’m sharing a daily devotional called From My Rocker with my social media friends. Hopefully, I will be able to publish a devotional book once I have enough entries.
